Germany: establish your entry route before building a shortlist
Start with the qualification you hold and the subject you want. A Class XII route and a master’s application need different checks; “13 years of education” is not a complete eligibility decision.
- For a bachelor’s, identify whether your exact record supports direct subject-restricted entry or a preparatory route. Do not assume that everyone needs Studienkolleg, or that one extra year of study automatically qualifies.
- For a master’s, compare your degree subjects and credits with the programme’s required background. An English test does not replace those academic requirements.
- APS and a VPD serve different purposes. Where a university uses the VPD procedure, requesting it is followed by a separate university application. Keep both tasks in your timeline.
