Compare the same stay

Use the same dates, guest count and room conditions when comparing options. A headline nightly price is only the starting point.

• Check the exact room and bed type, children’s ages, meals and accessibility needs.
• Separate the amount due now from taxes, deposits or other charges payable at the property.
• Check the cancellation deadline, its time zone, penalties, no-show conditions and early-departure rules.
• Read recent reviews for the actual property and room category; do not rely only on the overall score.

Your first days near university

For Italy and Germany, start with the campus or appointment address rather than the university’s city name. Institutions can have several campuses.

• Check the journey at your expected arrival time, including the last train or bus.
• Confirm reception hours, late check-in arrangements, identification requirements and any minimum check-in age directly with the property.
• A short hotel stay can give you time to view longer-term housing. It is not a tenancy or a guarantee of residence-registration eligibility.
• Ask the responsible authority which accommodation evidence it accepts for your application; a hotel reservation does not guarantee a visa.

Keep the booking trail

Before accepting an offer, confirm who takes payment, who issues the booking confirmation and who handles changes. Save the property address, rate conditions and emergency contact.

• Confirm special requests such as early check-in or extra beds; a request is not a confirmed inclusion.
• Local accommodation taxes vary by place and property. There is no single city-tax figure for all of Italy.
• For a booking made directly with a provider, use that provider’s confirmation and cancellation process.
