Choose a funding route before collecting income papers

Regional right-to-education support considers financial circumstances alongside enrolment and academic conditions. University merit awards are competitive and follow their own calls. Government programmes have separate eligibility and application systems. A tuition waiver is not the same as a living stipend, and scholarship eligibility is not a guaranteed housing allocation.

Use the authority responsible for your actual institution and campus. Read the award’s own rules on combining benefits, credit requirements, payment dates and repayment. Plan money for the period before any first instalment arrives.

Regional directory: the 2026/27 ordinary windows are past

ER.GO, Emilia-Romagna: its ordinary 2026/27 scholarship deadline was 24 August 2026 at 16:00 Italian time. Start from the current call hub and its amendments, not a cached 2025 timetable.

DSU Toscana: the ordinary degree-course window closed on 7 September 2026 at 13:00. Its separate doctoral/specialisation window runs from 25 September to 16 November 2026 at 13:00.

EDISU Piemonte: ordinary bachelor’s, single-cycle and master’s applications closed on 4 September 2026 at noon. The separate PhD/specialisation window is 28 October–27 November 2026, ending at noon.

Lazio DiSCo: the extended 2026/27 initial application deadline was 23 July 2026 at 20:00. The later correction phase was for applicants already admitted to it, not a new application opportunity. All times in this directory are Italy local time.

03

Foreign household evidence: the reference year is not universal

For 2026/27, EDISU’s ISEE Parificato route for international non-EU students uses 2025 income and assets at 31 December 2025; its corresponding EU route uses 2024. This is a scheme-specific foreign-household rule, not a rule for every Indian student or scholarship. Articles 6 and 30 and Annex F determine the correct route for your household.

Tuscany’s 2026/27 foreign-document provisions also refer to 2025 income and property at 31 December 2025. Follow that call’s issuer, translation and legalisation rules. Previous-year renewal exceptions should not be presented as first-application exemptions.

Build a checklist for family composition, each required member’s income, movable assets and real estate, then mark the exact year and issuing authority against each item. Do not obtain expensive attestations until the relevant award’s current checklist is known.

MAECI and Invest Your Talent are separate competitions

The MAECI 2026/27 government scholarship deadline was 26 March 2026 at 14:00 Italian time. Use Study in Italy to check the next call’s eligible citizenships, course categories and conditions; it is not a blanket grant for every bachelor’s applicant.

Invest Your Talent in Italy’s 2026/27 call closed on 11 May 2026 at 18:00. It concerns participating courses and an internship component, rather than every English-taught degree. Its country conditions include citizenship and residence, so an Indian citizen living abroad must check both. India appears in the programme’s eligible-country framework.

05

University merit: automatic consideration is not universal

Padua International Excellence’s overview lists a fee waiver and €8,000 gross per year for eligible English-taught programmes, subject to its conditions. Qualifying programme applications receive scholarship consideration without a separate scholarship form. The page currently points to calls available in November 2026; a new intake deadline is not verified here.

Politecnico di Milano’s 2026/27 merit call required a separate scholarship application. It was restricted to the specified Early Bird admission cohort and closed at noon on 15 December 2025. Its awards include cash-plus-waiver and waiver-only options. This is a closed historical call; check the new official call for your intake.

A 2027/28 scholarship deadline is not verified merely by shifting a 2026/27 date forward one year. Keep the previous call as clearly labelled planning history until the new official call is published.
