Plan with official sources

Study in
Ireland.

Compare official degree pages for curriculum, qualification requirements, language evidence, fees and support. An institution’s English website does not confirm every programme’s teaching language.

Medicine in Ireland

Ireland offers English-language school-leaver medicine, usually over five or six years, and separate four-year graduate-entry routes. RCSI has published specific 2027 entry and Casper requirements for privately funded non-EU school leavers. Plan the cost of the whole course and the later internship: admission does not guarantee an intern post.

Ireland, in context.

Useful starting figures. Your programme, city and applicant category determine your actual costs.

STUDENT POPULATION CONTEXT

44,535

2024/25

Non-Irish-domiciled enrolments in institutions covered by the HEA statistical return.

What this figure includes

Not a complete count of every private college or English-language school. Institution coverage includes National College of Ireland from 2023/24.

This is not a count of new arrivals and is not directly comparable with every other country.

TUITION

Typical listed non-EU undergraduate subjects: €9,850–€25,500/year

Subjects, institution and intake vary. The lower range is not a cap for every degree.

Cost reference checked 2026-09-22
LIVING COSTS

Major-city guidance: €950–€1,500/month or more

Dated indicative guide; actual current accommodation can make the total substantially higher.

Your Ireland application, step by step.

Official starting points and application framework; not a complete university or programme catalogue.

An official institution directory, not a verified English-only course finder. Open the institution’s degree catalogue and confirm the language and entry requirements of the exact course.

01Start with the institution and course

Compare official degree pages for curriculum, qualification requirements, language evidence, fees and support. An institution’s English website does not confirm every programme’s teaching language.

  • Check the awarding institution, course level and campus.
  • Confirm the language of required modules and placements.
02Check the route that applies to you

Many international applicants apply directly to the higher-education institution. Follow that institution’s instructions for your course and applicant category rather than assuming one route applies to everyone.

  • Record the application, scholarship and offer-acceptance deadlines separately.
  • Prepare requested qualifications, transcripts, references and English results.
03Understand conditional offers

Read any academic, language, payment or final-document conditions attached to your offer. Keep copies of the institution’s instructions and fee receipts.

  • Confirm the date by which conditions must be satisfied.
  • Research accommodation early and check cancellation terms before paying.
04Check immigration eligibility and permission

Use Irish Immigration Service guidance to check whether you need an entry visa and whether your course is eligible for the intended student permission. Non-EEA and non-Swiss students have specific conditions.

  • An entry visa and permission to remain are different steps.
  • For stays longer than 90 days, check the applicable registration process and current requirements.

Build your own timeline

Relative planning stages; institution and applicant-specific deadlines must be checked.

Record course, scholarship, test, document, deposit and visa dates separately. No individual 2027 intake deadline is confirmed by this overview.

Exams to research

These are research links, not a statement that every institution accepts or requires each exam. Check the exact programme, intake, test version, minimum component scores and visa rules.

Coverage and source notes
  • No central government English-only programme inventory was verified.
  • Do not reuse outdated GNIB references found in older study guidance; use current Irish Immigration Service instructions.

At a glance

A good option
for the right profile.

Compare official degree pages for curriculum, qualification requirements, language evidence, fees and support. An institution’s English website does not confirm every programme’s teaching language.

Start with the cost snapshot, compare the listed study routes, then use the linked country guides for documents and admission steps. Course-specific conditions are shown beside each researched programme.

Before you decide

Look at both
sides of the route.
