The exam at a glance

The online test adapts in difficulty and question count, then includes writing and speaking samples.

Reserve about one uninterrupted hour, with additional time to prepare the equipment and room.

Is this the test you need?

Applicants who have confirmed that their programme accepts DET for the relevant intake.

• The Duolingo English Test is separate from the language-learning app.
• Check acceptance at programme level, not just a university name.
• Check ID, room, computer and secondary phone-camera requirements before purchase.

A sensible preparation route

1. Start with the free official practice test.
2. Practise interactive listening and speaking with unfamiliar material.
3. Rehearse the camera and room setup; strong English alone does not prevent an invalid test session.
