The exam at a glance

Verified 2026 Paper 1 is computer based, with physics, chemistry and mathematics.

Paper 1 has 75 questions in three hours: each subject has 20 multiple-choice and five numerical-value questions.

Is this the test you need?

Applicants checking eligibility for the relevant engineering, architecture or planning route.

• Paper 1 is for BE/BTech; BArch Paper 2A and BPlanning Paper 2B have different structures.

A sensible preparation route

1. Choose one Paper 1 subject and map gaps against the official syllabus.
2. Use original topic drills, then official released papers to check exam familiarity.
3. Practise numerical responses and timing; review errors before increasing speed.
