Documents and interviews
Prepare examples of scientific reasoning and motivation even where the first step is an academic-file review. Do not assume that “no common national entrance examination” means admission without assessment.
Documents and interviews| University | 2026 admissions evidence | Useful distinction |
|---|
| Cluj | Academic and personal-file evaluation with the programme’s English-evidence requirements. | Confirm the accepted language certificate or documented English-schooling exemption. |
| Carol Davila | Online English interview of approximately 15–30 minutes, including science assessment. | B2 language evidence and any exemption follow its own methodology. |
| Iași | File evaluation and an interview, followed by ranking and confirmation. | Being selected is conditional on Ministry/recognition documents, payment, originals and the study contract. |

Tuition and extra charges
Keep the fee year on the shortlist and retain the university’s written payment instructions. The examples below exclude living costs and are not a whole-course price guarantee.
Tuition and extra charges| University / year | Medicine tuition | Separate charge |
|---|
| Cluj, 2026/27 | €10,000/year | €300 non-refundable file-processing fee. |
| Carol Davila, 2026/27 | €10,000/year | The schedule lists €500 for the language examination where applicable; this is not a universal application fee. |

Deposits: what could be at risk
Cluj’s 2026 procedure requires a place-confirmation payment of half the annual tuition and describes that payment as non-refundable. Non-EU visa applicants then need evidence of full first-year tuition payment.
Iași’s 2026 methodology requires two-thirds of tuition to confirm a place within the stated period, normally non-refundable on withdrawal or unmet obligations. It separately describes a board-approved refund route after full payment for specified Ministry-acceptance or study-visa refusals. Retain the refusal and apply under the actual policy; do not assume every withdrawal qualifies.

The Ministry acceptance letter and school records
The non-EU admissions route includes a Ministry of Education acceptance letter. The university coordinates the relevant file; keep the ministry document distinct from an email saying you passed selection.
Prepare school completion and subject marks, passport and the required civil-status and health records. Authentication follows the document’s issuing country: an Indian school certificate does not become an Omani document because the applicant lives in Muscat. Follow the faculty’s translation and original-document instructions.

Living costs and cash available before travel
The national Study in Romania portal gives about €600/month as a general living-cost reference. At that rate, twelve months is €7,200 before tuition or exceptional costs. Actual rent, household sharing and city can change the result.
Add the housing deposit, flights, document work, insurance and residence formalities. Do not count a future part-time job as money already available for the visa or the first tuition payment.

Study visa: India and Oman applicants
Romania’s immigration authority describes the long-stay study route for non-EU applicants. It normally requires Ministry acceptance, at least one year of paid tuition, health cover and funds tied to the statutory minimum gross salary for the visa period. Exemptions exist for specified categories.
The current IGI page states a €300 visa fee and a 90-day long-stay visa, followed by residence formalities. Use the eVisa portal to identify the competent mission and its document instructions. An applicant in Oman must establish lawful residence for the chosen mission; do not automatically reuse an India submission location or assume a VFS channel.

Why local registration needs an early answer
Romania’s medical law ties professional practice to qualification, medical fitness, professional registration and specified citizenship/residence categories. Those categories include qualifying non-EU statuses; it is incorrect to say that every Indian graduate is barred, or that a student residence permit automatically gives full professional access.
For an Indian applicant, obtain a written assessment from the competent Romanian regulator of the status and steps needed after this exact degree. Graduation, residency training and independent practice are distinct. This matters because the NMC route also requires evidence of registration in the country of qualification.
