Two separate university routes

Queen Mary Malta requires UCAT for all candidates. The University of Malta applies qualification-specific entry rules, with science entrance exams on the routes that require them and Medical Maltese conditions.

Admission sources checked . Each requirement retains its programme and intake scope.

An admission test, language requirement and medical licensing examination serve different purposes. For Indian citizens and OCI applicants, NEET eligibility is a separate India-return planning requirement; it does not automatically replace the destination university’s selection.

Qualification and duration
MD or UK-awarded MBBS, depending on the programme 5 years
Admission route
School-leaver medicine with institution-specific science, language and selection rules
Patient / clinical language
English / Maltese; programme-specific patient-language requirements
Tuition at the selected universities
University of Malta: €26,000/year for non-EU nationals in 2026/27. Queen Mary Malta: €39,500/year for September 2027 entry, with annual increases possible.
Living budget
No common living-cost estimate is applied to both programmes: Msida and Gozo need separate accommodation and travel budgets.

A UK award delivered in Malta is not the same as studying the degree in the UK. Assess training country, foreign internship, registration and the Indian rules for the exact course. Read the Indian requirements →

University of Malta: MD and Medical Maltese

The five-year MD’s 2026/27 non-EU tuition is €26,000 per academic year. The admissions page links the intake’s evaluation criteria, Biology and Chemistry sample questions, and Medical Maltese syllabus. Applicable overseas applicants need to satisfy the Medical Maltese requirement as well as science admission criteria.

Queen Mary Malta: a separate UCAT route

Queen Mary’s Malta campus has its own application. Its entry page gives country-specific academic requirements and requires UCAT, with no waiver. The published CBSE/ISC route asks for 85% overall and 85% in Biology and Chemistry, alongside specified earlier-school results. English evidence and interview requirements also apply.

Different prices and payment schedules

Queen Mary publishes €39,500 a year for September 2027 starters and permits annual inflationary/policy increases. Its page offers full payment or half before enrolment with the remainder by 31 January 2028. These arrangements do not apply to the University of Malta.

Graduation, foundation training and registration

The University of Malta says the degree permits an application for limited registration and foundation doctor posts. That is distinct from full registration or a guaranteed foundation job. Queen Mary’s UK award also needs an assessment of the country of training and the intended regulator; do not infer guaranteed access to UK postgraduate training from the award name.

Keep each intake separate

The University of Malta sources here concern the 2026 intake; its 2027 dates are not established by those pages. Queen Mary’s quoted tuition expressly concerns 2027. Test booking, university application and visa planning are separate tasks.
